Additional Notes 450 Class DEMU with 8798 and 8788 (qv). 450 Class DEMUs were built on underframes of withdrawn BR Mk1 coaches. Although the origin of all 27 frames is known, which NIR vehicle got which frame is not. In service on Northern Ireland Railways 21/01/1987-30/03/2012. Moved to Downpatrick 27-28/09/2014 and used in passenger service for the first time 18/10/2014. By 10/19: this 3-car set now currently unserviceable and only used as static buffet; interior substantially altered from in-service layout - tables have been added to the seats but in a way that does not remove the original 450 class ambience. Returned to passenger service 07/01/2023. Railway closed due to flood damage at end of 10/23 but reopened 26/10/24 with this unit in service.
