Additional Notes Built at Eastleigh on frames from Ashford. Only BR designed and built EMU class to have worked on 1500v DC and then (from 1960-62) 25kV AC. Originally DTSOL; refurbished as DTCOL c.1983; then converted by Hunslet Barclay in 1994 as prototype NAA Propelling Control Vehicle (PCV) for use in mail train formations to enable push/pull movements at termini without locomotive having to run-round. Located at Andrew Briddon Locomotives site at Darley Dale. Moved early 2022 to Reid Freight Services Longton site and then, 05/22, to Reids Cockshute Sidings site, Stoke-on-Trent.
