Additional Notes Built at Eastleigh on frames from Ashford. Only BR designed and built EMU class to have worked on 1500v DC and then (from 1960-62) 25kV AC. Originally DTSO; rebuilt to DTBSO c.1960-62; refurbished as BDTBSO c.1983; then converted by Hunslet Barclay (c.1994-96) as NAA Propelling Control Vehicle (PCV) to Diagram NA508 for use in mail train formations to enable push/pull movements at termini without locomotive having to run-round. By 02/22: at Crewe LNWR Heritage Company site in ownership of Locomotive Services Ltd. 11/24: moved by road from Crewe to J Watson & Sons, Stafford for scrapping.
