Additional Notes Built at Eastleigh on frames from Ashford. Only BR designed and built EMU class to have worked on 1500v DC and then (from 1960-62) 25kV AC. Originally DTSOL; refurbished as DTCOL c.1983; then converted by Hunslet Barclay (c.1994-96) as NAA Propelling Control Vehicle (PCV) to Diagram NA508 for use in mail train formations to enable push/pull movements at termini without locomotive having to run-round. B5 bogies. W 02/04. 09/23: purchased by Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway from West Coast Railway Company.
