Additional Notes Car K. Used in Italy 1925-8. During World War 2 served in General Eisenhower’s special train, code-named ‘Bayonet’, as he toured southern England planning the D-Day landings. With "Thanet" part of Winston Churchill's funeral train, January 1965. P 1968: to NRM at Green Bay Wisconsin via 'Flying Scotsman' 1969 tour. Repatriated 11/00 and to Carnforth for repairs to running gear & repaint. By 07/08 yet to return to Swanage. On display at NRM York 02/15 as part of "Churchill's Final Journey" display. 08/15: in workshop at NRM following Churchill display (see additional photo below). 03/17: at Williton for recommissioning work by West Somerset Restoration Ltd (see main photo) - possibly followed by use in traffic on WSR. By 06/18: at Marshalls Transport, Pershore Airfield, Throckmorton, near Evesham. By 12/23: at Kent and East Sussex Railway. 10/24: moved from Kent and East Sussex Railway to South Devon Railway 'for the foreseeable future'.
