Additional Notes | Six-wheel Third Saloon built 1871 for Stockton & Darlington Railway; to NER 1876. Inspection Saloon for Locomotive Superintendent Edward Fletcher from 1884. Then rebuilt to 40 ft vehicle on bogies 1904. Also used by the Worsdell brothers and Raven on the NER, and on the LNER by Thompson and Peppercorn when Deputy CMEs. W 1969: on loan to NRM 19??-?? and to NYMR 1991, then back to KWVR. Featured in the film 'The Railway Children' as 'The Old Gentleman's Saloon'. Was at Waterloo International Station (platform 23) from mid 2010 to January 2011 for stage production of 'The Railway Children'. Usually on display at Oxenhope Exhibition building. Attention needed to underframe. 08/23: returned to operational use. |
