Additional Notes "Flying Scotsman" lounge buffet. Rebuilt as RB in 1959. Used in 1970s on Harwich - Manchester boat train service. Transferred to Scottish Region in 1978 and in regular use on the West Highland Line that summer. Finally, used as Mess for Penmanshiel Tunnel diversion project. P 1981 Sea Containers: resold 1983: at Steamtown until 12/85; then acquired by Llangollen member. Restoration completed by 07/12 as "The Thompson Buffet" - a close representation of the original 1948 configuration for the "Flying Scotsman" set (see photos below). Pressure ventilation system has been reinstated but is not used as is too much of a drain on the batteries. Conventional steam heating radiators have been installed in the main saloon. 04/21: owning group has placed this vehicle in the care of the LNER Coach Association, and 08/21 moved from Llangollen Railway to Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway.
