BR loco-hauled BFK until exported to Northern Ireland Railways (NIR) in 1980. Gauge changed to 5ft 3in and converted by NIR to Generator Open Brake Standard numbered 911. Rebuilt 2002 as Brake Generator Van numbered 8911 for use with the eight ex-Gatwick Express coaches acquired by NIR in 2001. Last in traffic 06/09. 01/15: acquired by Railway Preservation Society of Ireland (RPSI) and in store at Lisburn. Uncertain whether acquired for traffic or for spares - if for traffic would have needed extensive work and air brake system converted to vacuum. The nine vehicles carried NIR numbers 8911 and 8941 to 8948 inclusive. 01/17: moved to Adelaide yard, Belfast - still in store. By 11/22: moved to Whitehead, County Antrim. 11/22: scrapped on site at Whitehead. |
