One of the nine former Northern Ireland Railways 'Gatwick' vehicles acquired by RPSI 01/15. This one Derby-built for BR 1974. Later used as 'Gatwick Express' vehicle, after which regauged to 5ft 3in and to NIR as 8946. Semi-permanently coupled to 8948. Last in traffic 06/09. Uncertain whether this acquisition is for traffic or for spares - if for traffic will need extensive work and air brake system converted to vacuum. As at 02/15 with 8948 in store at Lisburn pending transfer to Whitehead. The nine vehicles carry NIR numbers 8911 and 8941 to 8948 inclusive. By 05/18: at Whitehead - still in storage. By 02/23: scrapped. |
