Built by Ashbury Railway Carriage Company for Manchester Ship Canal Company as Directors' Saloon. Wooden underframe. To Bass by 1902, for VIP transport. P 1965 by Staffs County Council and to Shugborough Hall; there till 1977. Then to Bass Museum (later Coors Visitor Centre, now the National Brewery Centre) - on loan from Staffordshire Museums Service. In 2012, as a conservation project with volunteers from Burton Railway Society led by Staffordshire Museums staff, the coach was stripped, wood repairs made and re-varnished, with some paintwork refreshed. 08/25: confirmed in situ. |
