One of a batch of five lavatory tri-composites designed by William Aston; half coupe 1st, 2lav., 3rd, baggage, 3rd, 2lav., Half coupe 2nd.; length 32 feet, width 8' 3', height 11' 6', wheel base 19' 6'. Two of the five were later joined together to make a bogie vehicle, but 214 and 210 were converted to brake thirds in 1920 (3 third class compartments + baggage + guard). Renumbered 4027 on 1/12/23 and withdrawn 29/10/27. Sold as a house at Wool near Dorchester in 1928 (newspaper under the lino), till c.1986. Purchased by James Evans from Broadwinsor near Beaminster 1994. 03/18: reported that it is due to move soon to Blaenavon for renovation. 09/23: still in situ at Callington - plans for move to Blaenavon are now on hold but current owner is still seeking a suitable new home for this body. |
