Withdrawn from BR service and converted by 06/97 to become the new SERVICE CAR, providing staff accommodation in the Royal Scotsman train; air-conditioning equipment removed and replaced with pressure ventilation; coach fitted with a fully sound-proofed diesel generator to provide the train with ‘Hotel Power’, as a back-up to that fitted in 99968 (qv). Early 2014: ownership transferred to the Belmond Group. 02/15: now in Royal Scotsman Set BT55 based at Carnforth, operationally based at Edinburgh Craigentinny (Summer only). 11/17: now in Set EC00, operationally based at Edinburgh Craigentinny (Summer only), with Winter maintenance by Arlington Fleet Services Limited at Eastleigh Works. 2019: now based at Assenta Rail, Earnock Sidings / E.G.Steele site, Hamilton. 04/25: in operational Royal Scotsman set for 2025. |
