| Additional Notes |
This carriage has now been identified as a Midland Railway vehicle with the discovery that several of the hinges are stamped 'MR Co'. (Previously it was unclear whether it was LSWR or MR). 05/17: one side has been removed (assumed to be for shelter for horses) and roof is now sagging as a result (see main photo). 11/17: the owner is known to be intending to break up the vehicle which has been in his family's ownership for over 80 years. He believes - but without documentation to support this - that it was received in the 1930s as part of a railway compensation package following the death of one of his ancestors on the line. 07/23: confirmed still in situ - condition then shown in last additional photo below. |
