Built as 6-wheel First 229 by LCDR for boat train use. Converted to 4 wheeler for block train use in 1915. Altered by SR to composite 3/1/1/1 and shipped to IoW 05/1936. Withdrawn 05/1936. Grounded at West side of Thorness Bay: moved (with several others) to East side of the Bay ca. 1950. To Havenstreet 09/13. SECR number was 2619, SR number was 6376. As this last is in the same series as the already-restored 6378, this vehicle is now being displayed as a chalet outside the new storage and display building at Havenstreet (see main photo). 06/26: still in situ beside Train Story building. |
