Additional Notes Only surviving 'Dreadnought', which revolutionised carriage design nationally: 70 ft and strange cross-over corridor not repeated for over 50 years. P 1964 by Great Western Society from Newquay; at Totnes until 1967. No seating. Important vehicle. 2023: long-term restoration project began at Didcot. By 03/26: vestibule end rebuilt (see photo) and new timbers introduced to other areas of the frame replacing those that have rotted; 'other end' in a poorer condition (possibly as a result of previous collision damage) and awaiting a rebuild; all compartments and some of the corridor areas which have been repanelled have been prepared for scumbling prior to new seats being made and fitted; bogies being completely stripped to allow for worn and wasted parts to be replaced. The carriage is visible for visitors in the long-term restoration area of the carriage shed.
