Additional Notes Built 1889 at Oswestry by Cambrian Railways as a Directors Saloon (with near identical sister No 11 following in 1891). Originally built with smaller end windows, but modified at Oswestry c1903/04. Used (with no 11) in Royal Train (Edward V11) for opening of Elan Valley Reservoirs 21 July 1904 and Port Sunlight visit (George V) 25 March 1914. Became GWR 418 in 1922 and downgraded to 3rd class. Used as football saloon and withdrawn in 1932. Was in a field near Pilton, Somerset from late 1930's. Used as a home for family during WW2. In 1980 housed goats. Rescued in 2005 and now under active restoration in safe and dry storage in Devon - see additional photos below. No underframe. The owner, Francis Taylor, welcomes visitors, but only by prior arrangement (email: francis.oldfire@outlook.com). 03/26: restoration still in active progress.
