Wheel Arrangement Body only
Original Underframe No

Additional Notes Very unusual 4-compartment brake third, 30-ft long with a central brake compartment with raised birdcage lookout - later converted to a 2-compartment luggage brake. Believed to be one of only four such carriages, built in 1877-8 (Nos.1887-90), but yet to be definitively identified. It is the only SER guard's brake vehicle in preservation, and Bluebell envisages it would be rebuilt back to its original condition. Donated to Bluebell and moved there 20/12/2017 along with SER 2159 (qv). Both were previously part of a bungalow (now demolished) at Pagham for at least 80 years. Teak structures of both considered to be eminently restorable. Initial plans are to conserve the bodies for restoration at a future date. Long term plan is to to run a Victorian SECR 4/6-wheeler train formed of three SER carriages plus the three LCDR carriages which have already been restored to service at the Bluebell Railway. 11/25: covered at Horsted Keynes station.
