Car J. Underframe from 1914 LNWR Ambulance coach. Converted to a camping coach in 1960 and was based at Heacham, Norfolk (in blue livery) until withdrawn in 1966. Subsequently in departmental use at Kings Lynn until 1983. P 1983 Great Central Railway Coach Group, Chipping Warden, nr Banbury. Sold by auction 07/97 (£1000): Kineton: East Lancs. By 04/06: at Portsmouth Arms Station (Exeter-Barnstaple line) and by 06/07: sheeted, under restoration there. 11/16: partially sheeted, progress of restoration at that stage shown in first additional photo below. 08/19: latest progress shown in second additional photos. 10/24: moved to The Creamery, Castle Cary, Somerset. By 07/25: now carries MAID OF SOMERSET name. |
